urge Canada to call for a ceasefire in Gaza now
As a Canadian, I am gravely concerned with the catastrophic humanitarian situation unfolding in Gaza. I am just as concerned with the Canadian government’s delay in allowing critical aid to reach vulnerable Palestinians and in taking real action towards a ceasefire.
I am aware of the Canadian government’s support of a humanitarian pause but it is simply not enough. People in Gaza cannot afford to wait. A pause will not end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, and certainly will not help ease the destruction and death that will follow once it is lifted.
I’m worried the humanitarian situation in Gaza is reaching a breaking point. Gaza is experiencing intense nights of bombing, killing hundreds more people. With the number of civilian deaths only increasing, action is needed now more than ever.
Only through a ceasefire can aid safely enter and assist the population of Gaza.
It is extremely difficult and dangerous to attempt to deliver or access any aid within Gaza as bombs continue to drop indiscriminately. Humanitarian workers are risking and losing their lives attempting to assist those in need while simultaneously being actively displaced.
The Canadian government needs to take actionable steps in meeting with parties involved to push for an immediate and full ceasefire.
I urgently request cease fire and the evacuation of Canadian families and their extended family members from Gaza, including their safe return to Canada. Time is of the essence, and their well-being is at stake. Please take immediate action.
As my political representative, I urge you to represent my concerns and speak up loudly and clearly.
I hope we can stand alongside each other on the correct side of history
Regards,
